Making motion sensing technology affordable, pervasive, easy to integrate and use for consumer and
commercial products
Business Summary
Sentera Technology’s mission is to develop an inexpensive and highly integrated platform to bring inertial measurement and motion sensing capabilities into consumer electronics and low cost commercial products. Its operational business strategy is to achieve this goal by a twofold business model including a consulting business for inertial product development projects and a research and development effort whose goal is a technology platform that easily integrates into OEM products.
The value of this approach is that it creates a solution to a set of problems that have kept inertial measurement and motion sensing applications out of reach of the consumer market. The strengths of Sentera’s inertial platform are represented by its:
1. High level of sensor integration
2. Integrated inertial algorithms
3. Pre-Calibration/packaging features
High levels of integration sharply reduces the cost for OEM's. The integrated inertial algorithms drastically reduce the required know-how, development effort and time to market that OEM's have to invest to bring inertial products on the market. Finally, the pre-calibration feature simplifies and eliminates the need for costly non-standard manufacturing procedures that often make motion sensing application economically non-viable. All three strengths are critical to achieve a large volume, low cost application market.
Markets
Today’s gaming devices and business handheld markets offer an ideal platform for inertial applications. Examples are; INS enhanced GPS handhelds (pure GPS or even cell phones), smart PDA's and game handhelds. Enhanced game consoles is also a market where inertial features have the potential to create a totally new game experience for the players and therefore trigger the development of a new generation of games.
Commercial applications represent further important markets where the newly available MEMS can be applied to develop new solutions that perform better at a lower price.
Sentera’s business venture is based on the opportunity represented by the new realm of products made possible by the low cost inertial technology that can now be applied to consumer electronics and general commercial products.
Sentera Technology is a privately held company, based in Berkeley, California.
